Robotics Software Engineer-Motion Planning and Execution



As a Robotics Software Engineer, you will be responsible for building a scalable architecture to control thousands of individual robots processing millions of inventory transactions per day.


  • Design and implement fast motion planning algorithms, leveraging and extending algorithms in open source systems like OMPL
  • Design and implement reactive extensions to motion planning algorithms that perform incremental repair of a motion plan to quickly adapt to environment changes
  • Design and implement control algorithms that execute motion plans on real and simulated robots
  • Design and implement execution monitoring systems that monitor the environment for changes that threaten successful plan execution


  • Experience with ROS, MoveIt, and related open source robot operating systems
  • Expertise programming in Python, C++, and other languages like Matlab
  • Familiarity with OMPL and robotic motion planning algorithms
  • Experience with kinematic simulation and visualization environments (like RViz)
  • Experience with dynamic simulation environments (like Gazebo) a plus
  • Experience with collision checking systems (like FCL), experience with GPU-based collision checking systems a plus
  • Experience with integrated task and motion planning a plus
  • A degree in computer science or related field
